If you've been browsing for a new shower enclosure for your bathroom or en-suite and finding the measurements a little perplexing, fear not! We're here to demystify it for you.
Shower enclosures and their measurements might initially appear a tad complicated, but we've simplified it in this easy-to-follow guide.
Let's break it down:
You've set your sights on a shower enclosure, and its product title states it's 1000mm - perfect! It should match your 1000mm shower tray, right? But wait, the description and technical diagram indicate it's 960-990mm. Why the discrepancy?
The reason is that the shower enclosure isn't actually 1000mm in size. Yes, we know it can be a bit confusing. The enclosure is, in fact, slightly smaller to accommodate the thickness of your shower tiles.
Typically, when installing your shower, you'd position the shower tray first and then tile around it. So, if your shower tray is 1000mm and your tiles are 20mm thick, the actual available length on your shower tray is now 980mm.
Therefore, your shower enclosure should be at least 980mm to fit correctly onto your shower tray.
Adding a bit more complexity, our shower enclosures also come with an adjustment range. This feature is designed to accommodate variations in tile thickness, ensuring a perfect fit regardless of whether your tiles are thicker or thinner than usual.
